Eighteen education students of Arellano University passed the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) given by the Professional Regulatory Commission in March, 2017. The new professional teachers are the following:
According to Education Secretary Leonor Briones the Department of Education (DepEd) needs to fill more than 30,000 teaching positions, especially in the fields of Science and Math, in its implementation of the K-12 education reform program.
Dr. Eduardo O. Dela Cruz Jr., Dean of the College of Education , Main Campus, noted that the need for teachers continues to grow in all levels of Basic Education, from pre-school to senior high school. Arellano University has responded to this necessity through a sustained enhancement of its teacher training programs. Likewise the university offers the Teacher Certificate Program for degree holders who wish to go into teaching; this program requires taking eighteen units of education courses, after which he/she becomes qualified to take the licensure examination for teachers. Review classes are also offered for those preparing to take the LET.
The sports community of Arellano University welcomed the initial project of the newly installed Director of AU Alumni Services Ms. Sonia Dignadice, the
“Adopt an Athlete Project”. The undertaking was launched on August 16, 2017 at the Little Theater of the Main Campus in simple ceremonies attended by donors, athletes , coaches and alumni.
The first batch of donors to the project are the following: Mr. Sonny Moreno, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Sevilla, Professor Gary Garay, Ms. Elizabeth Abayan, Ms. Sally Villa, Ms. Maria Magdalena Samson, Mr. Dante Almazan, Ms. Therry Capino, Ms. Portia Quezon Bautista, Jose Abad Santos High School Alumni Association Batch 79 and the College of Nursing Alumni Association of Arellano University, Inc., Ms. Marita P. Lestor also made a pledge to contribute to the project.
The turn-over of donations was done with Mr. Valente V. Cayco, Vice President for Marketing and concurrently Athletic Director of Arellano University. He was assisted by AVP Grace Cayco of the Student Personnel Services.
