Bachelor of Secondary Education
This is a four-year teacher education program designed to equip students with adequate and relevant competencies to teach their chosen area of specialization / major in the secondary level. It aims to develop highly motivated and competent teachers specializing in the content and pedagogy for secondary education. The areas of specialization offered by the program are:
English. This specialization enables the pre-service teachers to acquire and master the macro and micro skills in communication for the effective teaching of language and literature in the junior and senior high school levels. The acquisition of basic and advanced knowledge through a variety of learning modalities enhances the instructional delivery and professional expertise for optimum performance in the academic community.
Filipino. In this specialization, the pre-service teachers are engaged in a variety of theoretical and practical applications in utilizing the Filipino language in oral and written discourses for communicative competence and development of literary appreciation applicable in the digital and information age.
Mathematics. The development of critical and analytical thinking and problem-solving skills equips the pre-service teachers in employing mathematical theories, concepts and principles from simple to complex operations using the conventional and modern trends and applications for the creation of solutions, sound judgment and logical reasoning.
Science. The pre-service teachers in this specialization venture on scientific theories, principles, concepts and investigations involving the challenges and demands of the changing world. Trends and innovations brought by technology and human activities and environmental relationships provide them the avenues for the discovery of knowledge and acquisition of skills for personal growth and professional advancement.
Social Studies. The study of historical, philosophical, anthropological, political and social theories and perspectives of humans and the world develops the faculties of the pre-service teachers towards interdisciplinary-interventional instructional delivery and competence using the modern pedagogical and technology-driven approaches.
Values Education. The pre-service teachers are empowered with philosophical, psychological, and practical principles, theories, and foundations in teaching values systems and their applications in various cultural and societal orientations and backgrounds for individual and social transformation.
