Arellano University embarked on a significant journey to Wellington, New Zealand, from March 17th to 23rd, 2024, at the invitation of Ms. Kathy Wolfe, Chief Executive of Te Rito Maioha Early Childhood New Zealand. The purpose of the trip was to explore potential collaboration opportunities between the two esteemed institutions in the field of early childhood education.
Led by Mr. Francisco P.V. Cayco, Chairman and CEO of Arellano University, the delegation included key AU personalities such as Ms. Maria Pia Angela M. Cayco, Atty. Frederick G. Dedace, Ph.D., Dr. Rose R. Dedace, Mr. Philip M. Flores, and Ms. Janet Andrea Y. Salvatierra. Their visit culminated in a significant event on March 19th, 2024, at the National Office of Te Rito Maioha ECNZ in Wellington.
The day began with a warm Pōwhiri, a traditional Maori welcoming ceremony hosted by Te Rito Maioha Early Childhood New Zealand. This cultural exchange included the customary rubbing of noses/foreheads and a heartfelt prayer led by Araprea Card. The atmosphere was filled with camaraderie as Janet Salvatierra, representing Arellano University, shared the Filipino song "Hawak Kamay" by Yeng Constantino, adding a touch of cultural exchange to the proceedings.
Following the welcoming ceremonies, the delegates engaged in fruitful discussions outlining the framework of the partnership. Both organizations expressed their enthusiasm for the collaboration, emphasizing the importance of fostering academic ties between institutions from different parts of the world. The senior leadership teams from Arellano University and Te Rito Maioha ECNZ celebrated a significant milestone by signing a Memorandum of Understanding, symbolizing their commitment to collaboration and mutual growth.
The highlight of the event was the official contract signing, which took place at 11:35 am. This momentous occasion marked the formalization of the partnership between Arellano University and Te Rito Maioha Early Childhood New Zealand. With the signing of the contract, both institutions pledged to explore the development of a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education program, laying the foundation for future academic endeavors and cultural exchange.
