Nursing students of the Arellano University-International Nursing Program (AU-INP) were given an inspiring glimpse into international career opportunities during a webinar held on February 26, 2025, as part of the 87th Founding Anniversary of Arellano University. The event featured esteemed alumnus, Mr. Rod Michael Corpuz.
Mr. Corpuz started his international student journey at AU-INP and graduated from Edith Cowan University (ECU) in 2013. Since then, he has built a remarkable career in Perth, Western Australia, where he currently works in multiple hospitals as a Duty Nurse Manager and Clinical Nurse Educator.
During the event, he shared his personal experiences as a previous international student and the invaluable skills and cultural insights he gained now as a professional working in Australian healthcare settings. One of the key takeaways from the talk is that international nursing students are given the opportunity to work in diverse clinical settings, exposing them to a wide range of patient populations and dynamic healthcare practices. He remarked, “ECU offers exceptional support for international students, ensuring that you are well-prepared to meet the requirements of your clinical placements.” Additionally, he advised, “Do not burn bridges; nurturing professional relationships is crucial for long-term success.”
He was also joined by Mr. Ed Rollon and Ms. Elieza Varona-Meintjes, who are also previous AU-INP students and ECU graduates. Together, they represent the core group who are tasked to establish the first AU-INP alumni network in Perth.
The question-and-answer session that followed was filled with eager inquiries about visa requirements, clinical placement opportunities, and the overall experience of living and working in Australia.
The success of the webinar highlights the growing interest among AU-INP students in international career pathways and the importance of providing access to such informative and inspiring events.
