Dynasty Defined: Arellano Chiefsquad Makes History with 6-Peat, 7th NCAA Title

The Arellano Chiefsquad once again conquered the mat and set the bar high, stunning the crowd as they clinched their seventh championship—and a historic six-peat title—at the NCAA Season 100 Cheerdance Competition held on Thursday afternoon, May 22, at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Sporting their signature blue-gray-red colors, the Chiefsquad set the standard high with another powerhouse performance that left the crowd in awe and the judges impressed. Their final score of 218 points edged out the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA Altas Perpsquad, who placed second with 213.5 points, while the Letran Cheering Squad came in third with 210.5 points.

Arellano's journey to cheerdance dominance began in Season 90, when they captured their first title. Although they were unable to defend it the following year, a new era began in Season 92—marking the start of a dynasty. That season, the squad clinched the title with a 218-point routine that dethroned the defending champions, Altas Perpsquad. Led by Coach Lucky San Juan, they went on to defend their title in Season 93, establishing themselves as a rising powerhouse.

The momentum continued into Season 94, when their precise execution of stunts, pyramids, and synchronized tumbling earned them a third straight title with 229.5 points.

Following a three-season hiatus due to the pandemic, the Chiefsquad made a commanding return in Season 98, scoring 245.5 points to outpace Perpetual Help’s 227.5. With their form and chemistry intact, they entered Season 99 hungry for a five-peat. Performing at the FilOil EcoOil Centre, they delivered a near-flawless routine that earned 253.5 points—their highest yet—fueled by the energy of the crowd chanting “Blue-gray-red, Arellano you!”

As Season 100 approached, the pressure was immense to protect their legacy. But under Coach Lucky’s leadership, the Chiefsquad delivered once again. Their high-difficulty routine featured elements like a double shoulder spin and towering pyramid stunts, igniting the arena and solidifying their position at the top.

With 218 points, Arellano not only clinched their sixth straight crown but also made history as the first collegiate cheer dance team in the Philippines since 1994 to achieve such a feat.

With their dynasty firmly established, the Chiefsquad now looks ahead to NCAA Season 101, aiming to extend their historic run and claim an eighth championship title under the continued guidance of Coach Lucky San Juan.
